A.A. Milne first created the magical Hundred Acre Wood with its lovable inhabitants as bedtime tales for his young son, Christopher Robin. Winnie the Pooh is based on little Christopher Robin's beloved Edwardian teddy bear. The original stories have been compiled into two classic books; Winnie the Pooh (1926) and the House at Pooh Corner (1928) both illustrated by E.H. Shepard who gave the characters forms that so perfectly matched their quirky personalities.

An intruiging piece is the music carousel which was inspired by the story In Which Piglet is Surrounded by Water where Pooh and Christopher Robin brave the floodwaters in an upturned umbrella to rescue poor Piglet. The pewter umbrella revolves when the key is turned and with the handle moving backwards and forwards to the Winnie the Pooh signature tune.

Another wonderful piece is the Stuck bookends which adopts the delightful scene from Pooh Goes Visiting and Gets Into A Tight Place. Pooh had a hearty meal of honey and condensed milk, finds himself tightly wedged in Rabbit's front door! On one of the bookends, Pooh listens as Christopher Robin reads to him outside, and on the inside, we can see Rabbit at home busying himself, hanging his washing on poor Pooh's dangling legs. Intricate details in the three dimensional sculpturing gives a very tactile quality to the piece, making it most interesting for inquisitive minds to explore.

The Balloon Clock is a highly sculpted piece that features Winnie the Pooh together with all his friends from the 100 Acre Wood. Here the silly old bear is about to be carried off by a large balloon.
